Bridget Connell – Angel Investor, Board Advisor & Start-up Coach, Angel Academe
Bridget is an Angel investor who concentrates on technology start-ups founded by women. She is a Board Advisor at Angel Academe, an angel investment group focused on technology and increasing diversity in investor and entrepreneur communities. Over half of the investors at Angel Academe are women.
Bridget has a background of 20 years working in IT, digital and mobile at DHL, O2 and Telefonica as Programme Director where she specialised bringing new ideas and disruptive technologies quickly to market.
Bridget is an accredited coach and works with entrepreneurs supporting them in rapidly scaling their businesses and obtaining external investment. Bridget is a start-up mentor at Wayra in London and at Afkar.me in Dubai.
Schehrezade Davidson – CEO, Tricerion Limited
Schehrezade is a champion of entrepreneurs and empowering companies to use technology. She has 30 years experience in financial services and equity fund management, where her expertise covered investing in large and small cap companies. She has over 10 years experience in early stage technology investing, especially in companies on the cusp of commercialisation. Schehrezade has taken her investment knowledge and is now a digital entrepreneur in the software and app space.
She was a main board director and part of the management team which grew a start-up private hedge fund business into an AIM listed hedge fund organisation, RAB Capital. Prior to RAB Capital, she was an European Fund Manager at HSBC Asset Management, having begun her career as a marketing associate and as an actuarial trainee. Schehrezade holds an MBA majoring in Marketing from Cass Business School and a BSc in Actuarial Science from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Priyanka Karunanithi – Investor, Octopus Investments
Priyanka is focused on deal origination, the assessment of investment opportunities and ongoing portfolio management. Before Octopus, Priyanka was a management consultant at global strategy consulting firm Bain & Company, where she worked with some of Australia’s leading corporates. She joined a Bain financial services client to assist with a major strategic acquisition before moving to the UK.
Judith Clegg – Founder & CEO, Takeout
Judith is Founder and CEO of innovation and strategy consultancy Takeout that works with some of the world’s best-known organizations to help them innovate and create new revenue streams, new products and new ventures, fast. This often involves helping them to learn from, partner with, invest in and acquire startups across global markets.
Judith has been listed as one of the Top Digital Powerbrokers in the UK by Wired Magazine as one of the Top 50 Most Influential Britons in Technology (Daily Telegraph), a Global Top 50 Women to Watch in Technology (Femmeonomics), finalist for Cosmopolitan Woman of the Year, one of WIE’s 50 Global Exceptional Women and recently was listed as one of Future Fifty’s top most inspirational EU women in Tech.
She is the founder of London, NYC and San Francisco entrepreneurial network the Glasshouse, is an investor and advisor to a range of European and US startups and is the founder LiveKind a registered charity focused on funding projects to heal inequality for children, women, animals and the environment. She is also founder of the “Once a Month Bunch” group of businesses who commit to doing something once a month to help others.
Tabitha Goldstaub – Co-Founder Project Placed
Tabitha Goldstaub is currently setting up two new businesses.
Project Placed is an educational social network with a mission to help students find work they love. Mobile platform enabling hundreds of universities to place students into thousands of companies as a module in the curriculum counting to their academic result – this also creates a separate verified “levelled” micro credential called the “placed score” which will be surfaced to companies recruiting for graduates ready for the working world.
She is also the Co-Founder of an On Demand Data Science Exchange still in stealth mode.
Prior to this Tabitha Co-Founded Rightster (early 2011) the largest online video distribution company, working with Fashion, Sports, News and Viral video brands and rights holders. Tabitha held many roles and helped grow the company to 250 people in 11 countries. Rightster went public in 2014 and after 4 acquisitions Tabitha’s exited the business in May 2015. She was recognised as one of the industry’s leading young talents in Media Week’s 30 Under 30 in 2012 and The Evening Standard’s Silicon 60.
Camilla Dolan – Investment Manager, MMC Ventures
Camilla Dolan is an Investment Director at MMC Ventures, a UK based Series A technology investor. Camilla has portfolio responsibility for Pact Coffee, Bloom & Wild, Hubbub Groceries, Wool & The Gang and PayasUgym. She has a keen interest in brands, education, business process software and payments. Prior to MMC Camilla was a Case Team Leader at Bain & Co, where she worked across their London, Tokyo and San Francisco offices, mainly focusing on technology and financial services
Rosa usually has four or five projects on the go at any one time. She is driven by innovation, great design, art, tech and people. With an extremely varied CV which covers a number of sectors, she says: “I have a learned a great deal from each which enables me to work cross-sector and pull from my many little black books of contacts”.
Elizabeth Varley is a communicator, connector and entrepreneur with a background in technology, content and events. She is co-Founder and CEO of TechHub, a network bringing together the global technology startup community, in London, Riga, Manchester, Bucharest and many other cities around the world.
Elizabeth has previously worked with small business advice site Smarta, with Germination on the SHINE unconference for social entrepreneurs, and headed the team for Twestival London in 2009-2010.
After copywriting, editing and senior content strategy and management roles, she ran editorial and content agency Online Content UK for six years, and programmed and produced digital and tech-focused events for Chinwag and NMK. Elizabeth has previously been a judge at GeeknRolla, the Association of Online Publishers Awards, the Information Management Awards and sat on the London College of Communication’s Digital Media Advisory Forum.
She is committed to supporting the wider technology industry and was one of the founding steering committee members of the DigitalEve women in technology organisation in the UK. In 2002 Elizabeth was a consultant on ITbeat with e-skills UK – a project to encourage girls to get involved in IT and new media.
Since 2006, David has been committed to the mission of “Bespoke for all” within A Suit That Fits. A Suit That Fits now has over 26 locations internationally where men and women can visit a Style Advisor to design their own bespoke, ethically-made suit, shirt or overcoat – starting from £299 for a two piece suit.
A Suit That Fits is now rolling out the “Fit Expert” marketplace to ensure that everyone across the UK has access to a local expert who can ensure Bespoke tailoring is available to all.
Prior to starting A Suit That Fits, David graduated from Imperial College London, in Computing. He then joined his brother in starting up a recruitment company in Cambridge. David left to pursue his interest in systems and software, working in IT for a leading recruitment company and quickly graduating to becoming IT manager.
Over the summer ASTF successfully raised over £1m through a Crowdcube campaign.
Lisa Heneghan – Partner, KPMG
Lisa is a Partner in KPMG’s Management Consulting Business and leads the CIO Advisory Group. Lisa has more than 20 years of experience across technology, having worked for major technology providers prior to her consulting career. As such Lisa has experience across all elements of technology from software through servers, storage and networks.
Lisa has worked across different industries but in recent years has spent most of her time in financial services. She has worked with many of the leading Global Financial Service organisations, advising on IT and Sourcing strategies, leading transformation programmes and remediating service provider issues. She focuses much of her time now assisting her client s to transform their IT organisation and improve internal capability to more effectively manage the increasingly complex IT supply chain.
Emma Lloyd – Director, Business Development, BSKYB
As Sky’s Director of Corporate Business Development and Investments, Emma identifies and nurtures key strategic relationships with Sky’s technology partners, ranging from start-ups through to major international technology brands. Emma’s role includes identifying potential commercial tie-ups – particularly in relation to new forms of content distribution – as well as investments opportunities. Emma has overseen a number of Sky’s recent strategic investments, including those made in Roku, Zeebox and 1 Mainstream.
Previously Emma was Sky’s Director of Emerging Products, where she led a team that focused on identifying and new product opportunities across TV, online and mobile and then bringing them to scale. In this position, she played a key role in the early development of Sky’s award-winning multiplatform TV service, Sky Go.
Emma joined Sky in January 2008 as a business development director. She started her career in management consulting, where she has ten year’s business consulting and mobile telecommunications experience.
Mandeep Singh is the CEO of StreetHub.com, the location-based, mobile-first marketplace for independent retailers. StreetHub shows you, in real-time, what fashion and home products are in local shops around you. You can buy items for instant collection or 3 hour delivery. For retailers, StreetHub give them the technology to drive more customers into their shops. StreetHub is backed by a group of leading Venture Capital funds including Index Ventures and Octopus Investments.
Prior to co-founding StreetHub, Mandeep was at one of Europe’s largest Private Equity funds, BC Partners, acquiring Foxtons (where he was on the board) and Accudyne Industries LLC (jointly with Carlyle). He was previously at OC&C Strategy Consultants and has an MA from Cambridge University. He co-founded his first business in his bedroom at the age of 15.
Sarah Wood – Co-Founder and co-CEO, unruly.co
Sarah Wood is co-founder and co-CEO of video ad tech company Unruly, where she ensures the company delivers the most awesome social video campaigns on the planet.
90% of Ad Age 100 brands have trusted Unruly to connect with audiences at speed and scale across the Open Web. Unruly has 15 offices, employs 200 people and was acquired by News Corp in September 2015.
Sarah has been voted one of 15 Women to Watch in Tech by Inc., one of 10 London-Based Entrepreneurs to Watch by Forbes and #4 in Digital Spy’s Top 10 Women in Tech. She is a member of Tech City’s Entrepreneur Advisory Panel and a Technology Ambassador for London.
Sarah is also an associate lecturer at the University of Cambridge, where she teaches a course in Mash-Ups, Memes and LOLitics: Online Video Culture and the Screen Media Revolution.
Pinky Lilani CBE DL – Founder and CEO, Spice Magic
Pinky Lilani CBE DL is a food guru, author, motivational speaker and internationally acclaimed champion for women. She is the force behind the annual Women of the Future Awards, the Asian Women of Achievement Awards, The Ambassadors programme, The Inspirational Women’s Network and the Global Empowerment Award. She is an associate fellow of the Said Business School, Oxford. A Patron of DIL, The Westminster Society and Frank Water. She is an Ambassador for The Tiffany Circle of the British Red Cross and Girl Guiding UK.
A member of the board of Global Diversity Practice and on the Court of Brunel University. Pinky makes regular media appearances and is a keynote speaker at international conferences and at educational institutions including the Judge Business School, Cambridge and the Said Business School, Oxford. Winner of several awards she is listed as one of the 100 most powerful women in the UK by BBC Radio 4 Women’s Hour.
